Skinning my Blog

July 1, 2008 no comments

This blog was skinned to look seamless with the rest of Promorock.  I plan on posting a series of articles on how you can use skinned blogs for different purposes.  My favorite is using it as the dynamic news section of a website.  I’ve used blogger on LakewoodAlive and Proud Pittsburgh for the great SEO features and ease of configuration of it’s fully editable template.  I also don’t think it hurts that Google owns it so the SEO most likely fits at least their minimum requirements.

Another application of a skinned blog is creating a newsletter template.  Basically you publish your pages to a directory in your site and not only will you have the pages online (fully searchable) but by sending your emails via Internet Explorer or a compatible program, you can send the page as an email.  IE is as easy as File>Send>Page as Email.

Done right and you’ll display perfectly on devices, too.

More to come soon.
